Purpose

I’ve put so much pressure on myself to find that ONE thing – my purpose. This hot pursuit to find THE ONE thing has caused me to live with quite a bit of fear. What if I’ve missed my calling… my purpose? Like you, I don’t want to live an empty life. “The greatest tragedy is not death, but life without purpose,” (Rick Warren). Is anyone else panicking?! What if, try as we might, we don’t find our purpose? Am I really just floundering?
I’ve confused my purpose with significance, and in my search to find it, I keep looking for something big. While trying to search for my purpose, I’ve dismissed smaller opportunities wanting to be ready (and ensure there’s room) for the big thing. But really, I’ve been looking to make myself big. In searching for my big, divine appointment – I’ve missed opportunities to live out my ultimate purpose that came with my birthright as a child of God.
What if our purpose was much simpler?
We were created to love.
In my hot pursuit of a platform, I’ve forgotten that my purpose is pretty simple – to point to the greatness of God & to celebrate His love.
There’s a wonderful relief that comes if I choose to accept and rest in that.
Perhaps this week we need to recommit to doing something kind of simple… let’s keep the main thing, the main thing!
